0727 Association of sleep quality with memory functions among dementia-free, middle- and older-age, rural Indians

Abstract Introduction Sleep is known to be involved in cognitive processes, such as memory consolidation. Poor sleep a potential risk factor for dementia. However, whether it associated with decreased functions among dementia-free individuals not well known. This study aims investigate the effect of quality on middle and older-age adults from rural Indian population. Methods Participants were dementia-free, Indians (≥ 45 years) recruited part an ongoing, prospective, aging cohort study, namely Srinivaspura Aging, NeuroSenescence, COGnition (SANSCOG) study. Cross-sectional (baseline) data was obtained using Pittsburgh Quality Index (PSQI). Memory (at baseline) assessed subtests, immediate recall, delayed name-face association, semantic fluency, phonemic culturally validated computerized neurocognitive test battery. Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) used classify subjects based their status into cognitively healthy (CDR=0) MCI (CDR=0.5).
